Antique Cavalry Officers Horse Saddle
Here is a stunning equestrian show piece, attributed to be an antique 19th century cavalry officer’s saddle. This unique cognac leather saddle features a floral-stitched seat and knee rolls, an attached wool shabraque with leather stars stitched on each side, and primitive wood stirrups. A faint maker’s mark “Ranger” is visible on the left skirt.
· 16” seat x 20” tall pommel to bottom of flap; sits approximately 12” wide at outside edges.
· Antique condition for décor use only; this piece could be greatly improved with restoration and cleaning, sells as-found in original condition; broken and loose stitching on left knee roll with exposed horse hair filling; musty and dusty soft textiles; leather has cracking, distressing, scratches, scuffs, stains and other wear marks throughout; shabraque has multiple holes.
